According to Hindu tradition, it is believed that King Ugrasena of Mathura had a son named Kansa, who had a sister called Devaki. When Devaki’s wedding, Kansa heard a divine voice saying, “O Kansa, you will be killed by the eighth son of the sister you are bidding farewell to.” Hearing this, the cruel Kansa imprisoned his sister and brother-in-law. Thus, Lord Krishna was born in the prison of Mathura. It is believed that his great-grandson, Vajranath, built a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.
